Seit der UN Generalversammlung Ende September tut sich ja einiges in Bezug auf die Yasuni-ITT Initiative. Vor allem die taz berichtet sehr umfassend und wer sich näher über den aktuellen Stand der Dinge informieren will, ist damit gut beraten:
Auch die Zeit berichtet regelmäßig ausführlich über die Yasuni-ITT Initiative und Entwicklungsminister Dirk Niebel.
Spannende Neuigkeiten gibt es also weniger aus der Politik, als von lokalen Initiativen: Hannover bildet beispielsweise den Ausgangspunkt der hoffentlich bald deutschlandweiten Initiative www.saveyasuni.eu. Ein Zusammenschluss von NGOs sammelt für den Yasuní-Fonds und will damit zur bevölkerungsweiten Unterstützung anregen. Am besten gleich weitersagen!
Auch in Frankreich gibt es ähnliche organisierte Unterstützung auf lokaler Basis. Das Departement Meurthe-et-Moselle hat im Juni eine Beteiligung in Höhe von 40.000 Euro zugesagt und hofft, dass auch andere Departements mitziehen. Nun meldet auch Nord-Pas-de-Calais nach dem Besuch von einer Delegation aus dem Amazonasgebiet, sich finanziell zu beteiligen.
In diesem Sinne: möge das Yasuní-Unterstützungsvirus sich weiter ausbreiten!

“Yasuni – two seconds of life” will be screened on October 14 at 7 p.m. at the ACUD Cinema Berlin. It will be followed by a discussion with Ivonne Yánez of the Accion Ecologica and Tadzio Müller, a German climate activist.
Entry fee: 3 euros

“Yasuni – two seconds of life” wird am Freitag, den 14. Oktober um 19:00 im Berliner ACUD Kino zu sehen sein. Anschließend gibt es eine Diskussion zum Thema mit Ivonne Yánez von der Accion Ecologica in Ecuador und Tadzio Müller, Aktivist der deutschen Klimarechtsbewegung gegenstrom.

Those who follow us on facebook and/or twitter receive our little pieces of information on a regular basis, but there were so many interesting news articles on the Yasuni lately, that I thought I’d collect the most important ones and put them also onto our blog so that we can keep track of what’s going on. For me it feels like finally there is more international interest in this subject – so let’s keep up the good work of spreading the information to save the Yasuni 🙂
First of all, there was a great interview with beautiful Bo Derek on CNN: Save this last Garden of Eden
Australian radio, ABC Media, aired an interesting piece on the Yasuni-ITT initiative which you can read or listen to: Ecuador asks the West to pay to keep rainforest
The next article beautifully describes the experience of discovering the biodiversity of the Yasuni rainforest and how much money is spent in order to re-establish our environment. It is my personal recommendation to all of you: Alberta can help save the planet
The UN has now launched a campaign that allows also private people to donate to the Yasuni-ITT initiative, which in my opinion is a great way for all of us to participate without waiting for our politicians to act. UNDP expands Yasuni-ITT donor initiative to prevent oil drilling in the Ecuadorian Amazon.

Apparently last week, a Brazilian company donated $130 million to the Yasuni-ITT initiative – I’m only not quite sure why there is no celebration in the media of these good news..? Odebrecht aporta $130 mil para el Yasuni-ITT (in Spanish)

We are very sad to announce that Brian O’Leary, former astronaut, author and scientist, passed away on July 29th, 2011. His research concerning alternative energies and his enthousiasm with which he fought for a new healthy and sustainable world are invaluable and will last way beyond his death. Our thoughts are with his family and we are very grateful for his precious contribution to “YASUNI – two seconds of life”.
